POLICE TRAINING DAY - A RESOUNDING SUCCESS!
A resounding success! CITS in conjunction with Clancy and Combined Industry Theft Solutions held a police training day in Harefield.
58 police officers from six forces attended a full day's training into Plant and Agricultural machinery theft and identification with hands-on examinations in the afternoon. The feedback from the day has been excellent - and we are pleased to report that one of the officers attending the event recovered a stolen dumper as a result of the training!
There isn’t a police force in the country which hasn’t felt the effects of construction and agricultural equipment theft, by professional and opportunistic thieves.
Officers were welcomed to the event by Mr Kevin Clancy, the chairman of Clancy who opened the training sessions. Police received presentations from specialist officers and industry experts on identification methods and highlighted the ease of correct identification using the CESAR industry machinery marking scheme.
Seumas Ascott, Head of Security at Murphy’s gave a presentation on the risks associated with Survey Equipment on site and how stolen equipment can be identified.
NFU Mutual rural crime statistics show that rural theft cost the UK an estimated £40.5m in 2021, a 9.3% decrease from the previous year. With these regular training courses, CITS and CESAR aims to continue to drive down construction and agricultural equipment theft.
