STAY ALERT - HIRE THEFT OF MACHINERY IN COUNTY TYRONE, NORTHERN IRELAND

An individual by the name of Thomas Smith has been operating around the area of County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, hiring numerous pieces of equipment and not returning it.

On 29th and 30th August 2023 Mr Smith contacted a HAE member company in the area and hired several items including a medium electric breaker, a 5KVA diesel generator with some extension leads and transformer, an electric power transformer and a petrol vibrating plate. Both deliveries were made to Connswater Community Centre and were signed for by the individual both times. 

Mr Smith previously worked for O’Neill Building Works Ltd. and had been giving their details, but on the occasions outlined above he used an alias. The equipment was ordered and signed for using the name Bradley Moore from Graham Construction. He even provided purchase order numbers that match the format of those typically given out by that company.

These crimes were reported to the Police Service of Northern Ireland and passed to Strandtown station in Belfast. The crime reference number is: CC2023110600759.
