FRAUDULENT COMPANY ATTEMPTING TO HIRE EQUIPMENT IN NORTH AYRSHIRE!
CITS have been alerted to the following attempted fraud:
A company called Capital Cross Global Limited (Company number SC487112) attempted to hire some 20-foot containers for a 4-6 week period, in the summer of 2023. On 13th February 2024 the same company attempted to order 5000 litres of fuel on account.
In each instance they provided slightly different information. The contact name was Lee O'Connor, mobile number 07513 949016 and email info@capitalcrossglobal.uk
The address provided on the credit application was 33 Kirk Road, Irvine Industrial Estate, Irvine; however, the address listed in Companies House is 33 Kyle Road.
Other details include a website, www.capitalcrossglobal.uk (which seemed very basic for a business that was incorporated in 2014) and a telephone number, 0330 127 0322, which doesn't exist.
A bank account was proivided, with sort code 04-00-40 and account number 61434117 but when checked this was shown to be invalid. A VAT registration number was also provided, 421 3006 36, this also proved be false.
When the fraudsters tried again on the 13th February they used slightly different phone numbers (0330 127 0309 and 07513 949013) but used the same false VAT registration number. However, the bank account did pass a validation check on that more recent occasion.
We would urge CITS members to be aware of Mr O'Connor or Capital Cross Global, and report anything suspicious to the National Construction and Agricultural Theft Team (NCATT) team by emailing ncatt@northumbria.police.uk
