THEFT ALERT - SCRAP RAIL / SCRAP METAL THEFT

Description of the Event

2 x commercial vehicles have attempted to enter site and remove scrap rail / scrap metal. The external CHiP storage area currently under MSI PC control was approached by an occupant of a grab lorry stating they were instructed to collect all scrap. The MSI supervisor challenged the occupants of the vehicle and it was clear after a short period of time that their was criminal intent. The MSI Supervisor did a fantastic job in ensuring there was no escalation and carried out comprehensive due diligence checks both during and post refusal of access.

Immediate Findings

There was evidence of fraudulent details being given to the external security company that manage access to the third party land that is a throughfare to the MSI storage area. A search of the registrations attempting to gain access produce a security alert by CITS.

The same registrations have stolen scrap metal across the country since 2022. Initially from Clancy Head Office and Conways Heathrow plus other sites in London and the Home Counties. It has also been reported that the gang can become very aggressive and threatening when confronted.
